Microbial soil health indicators

This research conducted in collaboration with the Weizmann Institute focuses on understanding how soil management practices shape microbial community structure and function, and how these changes influence the development or suppression of soilborne diseases. By integrating plant experiments with shotgun metagenomics, microbial enrichment strategies, and advanced machine-learning analyses, we aim to identify universal microbial markers of soil health. These markers will enable prediction of a soil’s capacity to promote or suppress disease, providing practical tools to guide sustainable soil management and disease mitigation in agricultural systems.
